Relational Database
A powerful relational database can be designed to increase your organization's efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability. A relational database offers the following benefits over a typical "flat-file" database:
- Several records can be updated at once by having their common data elements placed in a related record. When this one record that is common to the other records is modified, all the records that are related to it automatically get the new information. In a flat file structure, every record that contains the data to be changed must be modified individually.
- Multiple instances of data for a particular record are unlimited in a relation database. If a record has data that is to be repeated several times, a flat file system can only hold as many instances as there are fields created for it. In a relational database, a new record is created for each instance that is generated.
- Queries for records in a relational database are more specific. Since there is only one field that contains the data that is requested, the query configuration is very straight forward. In a flat file database, data must often be stored in several different places (i.e. Category 1, Category 2, Category 3, etc.). Therefore, queries in a flat file system must account for the data being located in any of those fields.
We are experienced relational database programmers that carefully analyze your current and future database needs before we design the most effective system for you. We believe in the power of relational databases and are happy to suggest ways that the data in your organization can be brought together to enhance the flow of information. Relational databases can be designed to be fully integrated with your organization's current systems.
We can also integrate your relational database with the web. A database driven web site can offer you further efficiency, and help you to reach current and prospective clients effectively. We enjoy creating relational internet databases to fully connect businesses with internet users.
